I got lost

All these years, I was never a big fan of dirt trails. I didn't like the surface, my shoes & clothes would be covered in dirt and I hated that. Until recently that all changed.

First, I would force myself to run on the dirt trail. I could feel the difference & specially the comfort it gave running on soft surface. After a while, I got hooked. Put my mp3 player on, listening to Linkin Park & Enigma I could easily run 5/6 miles. I found a new pleasure in running on dirt trail.

And then it happened. I moved out of Lawrence. Now in Topeka, I ask others about any dirt trail, nothing. I start to feel the pain of pounding on hard surface everyday. Its frustrating but there is no other place to run except for the cement trail behind my apartment or the cracked sidewalks around campus. Ughhh.....

Until Yesterday. Yes, yesterday was an easy day for me. So, I started running on the opposite direction than I usually do everyday on the same trail behind my apartment. I kept running and running. I had an idea where the trail was leading me, but wasn't really sure. Until I came across a roundabout at one point. I look around & proceed to go straight. Suddenly, I looked to my right & saw a bridge. Right past the bridge it appeared to be some kind of dirt trail.

Well, without even thinking twice I'm off. I am running thru the woods. The weeds & few tall grass on the side brushing against my feet welcoming me, and I felt the urge to just fly. I had to keep telling myself, today is an easy day for me. I again felt the true and absolute pleasure of running. After about a mile, it seemed the trail had ended on a big construction site. I become disappointed. I started to look around & noticed the other part of the trail peeking at me thru some bushes. I'm off again. This time I started to get a little scared, picked up my speed. Why?! The woods seemed to get heavier and heavier. After a while, it was rather dark & I could barely see the sun. Another 1/2 mile, there's  a traffic road.

Right past the road, it seems the trail goes on. It was getting late. So, I decided to call it quite and turned around...

I'm sure the adventure will continue and this is just the beginning
